Dual Diploma

Home > Programs

The Griggs Dual Diploma Program is a US high school diploma program that runs in addition to the registered high school program that the student is attending. This program is similar to the high school program, however, students continue to work on the local national curriculum, or curricula of other countries, while pursuing the Griggs diploma at the same time. The student‘s previous and current coursework is compared to the Griggs' requirements in order to assess what Griggs courses need to be completed to receive the Griggs (American) high school diploma in addition to the one from the registered school that the student is attending.

The student is required to take 6 units (credits) that are Griggs approved in order to get the Griggs College Preparatory Diploma or Standard Diploma. Students may choose to take one to three credit courses per academic year, according to their needs. Schools choose this type of Dual Diploma Program to help prepare students for attending a university worldwide.

Program Conditions:

  • Students earn at least 6 Griggs credits.
  • Students can join the program from grades 9 – 11.
  • Students must complete a minimum of four semesters to fulfill the requirements of the Dual Diploma Program. Summer intensives are classed as one semester (two weeks for 0.5 credits and three weeks for 1.0 credit).
  • Students in grade 11 can commence the program at the start of the second semester of their grade 11 year but must complete a summer intensive and their senior year.
  • Students can also complete a minimum of two Griggs-approved intensive summer sessions plus two semesters to gain the Griggs diploma.
  • Students can enroll at any time and join ongoing classes making up missed work in one-to-one sessions where applicable, but they still need to stay in the program for at least 18 months. Credit earned by late arrival students will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Students receive a Griggs transcript with transfer credits + Griggs credits after 3 Griggs credits earned.
  • Students who begin late can still receive a letter of enrollment from Griggs with the registration date of when they started learning. The letter states that students will receive a diploma if they complete the program and course requirements.
  • Schools/centers can run day-time classes or after-school classes.
  • Each subject teacher arranges one field trip per course of study for students.
  • Students engage in 10 hours of community service per semester (20 hours per year enrolled). Summer camps should incorporate community service to ensure students are getting the holistic Griggs experience.
  • Students can attend Griggs’ summer camps in China or abroad.
