Griggs China Attends the US Independence Day Celebration

The US Consulate General in Guangzhou hosted a grand "Taste of America" themed reception at the Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou to celebrate the 249th Independence Day of the United States of America on June 11, 2025. As a long-term partner, Griggs China was invited to this annual event for the seventh consecutive year and supported the occasion as one of the sponsor.

Since its establishment in 2017, Griggs China has maintained a close partnership with the Commercial and Education Sections of the US Consulate General in Guangzhou. This year, the company sent a high-level delegation to the celebration, including:

Griggs China:

  • Mr. Harry Lee, Chairman and CEO

  • Ms. Leila Qiu, Office Administrator

Griggs China School——Griggs High School at Guangzhou Zhongshan Whampoa School for Hong Kong and Macao Students

  • Ms. Teresa Yang, Executive Principal

  • Ms. Vivi Mo, Overseas University Counseling Director

During the event, the delegation engaged in friendly exchanges with Mr. David Perdue, US Ambassador to China, and Ms. Pauline Gao, US Consul General in Guangzhou.

The celebration was filled with a vibrant atmosphere, where upbeat American music blended with cheerful conversations. The event commenced solemnly with the stirring national anthems of both nations – "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "March of the Volunteers" – their melodies deeply moving all attendees.

In her address, Consul General Pauline Gao elaborated on the thematic significance of "Taste of America." Through an authentic display of American cuisine, she added a distinctive culinary dimension to Guangzhou's reputation as the "Capital of Gastronomy."

Mr. Baocheng Yuan, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), highlighted in his speech that Guangzhou and the broader southern China region have always served as pivotal hubs for Sino-American economic, cultural, and educational cooperation. He emphasized the importance of strengthening subnational ties between China and the United States.

Ambassador David Perdue reflected on America's founding history from a historical perspective, interpreting the symbolism of the Stars and Stripes. He particularly underscored how two centuries of Sino-American trade have benefited both peoples and expressed strong optimism for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and fostering shared development in the future.

The celebration not only showcased the unique charm of American culture but also provided a valuable platform for exchanges between Chinese and American communities, further strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple fields.

Looking ahead, Griggs China will ride the tailwind of growing China-US friendship to expand and strengthen its American high school diploma program in the China market. Leveraging high-quality international education resources as a bridge, Griggs China is committed to nurturing more outstanding students with global perspectives, thereby making greater contributions to advancing Sino-American educational exchanges and mutual cultural appreciation.
