On July 5, the Griggs Leadership Summer Camp – English for Global Success Program officially kicked off in the United States. The summer camp group from Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School, led personally by General Principal Mr. Bowen Chen, departed smoothly and crossed the Pacific Ocean, arriving safely at the sunny University of San Diego campus on the morning of July 5 (local time), officially began their three-week journey of language, culture, and leadership exploration. On the same day, Mr. Harry Lee, Chairman and CEO of Griggs China, also arrived in San Diego and joined the camp. His presence further bolstered the team's confidence, and provided a solid foundation for the upcoming teaching exchanges and project advancement.

Upon arrival, Ms. Francine Chemnick, the International Program Director at the University of San Diego, personally welcomed the group on campus. With warm and thoughtful arrangements, she guided the students through the dormitory check-in process and provided a detailed introduction to campus facilities and daily living tips, making everyone feel warmth and care from the very first moment in a foreign country.

Though weary-faced after the long journey, the students’ eyes sparkled with excitement and curiosity. Facing a brand-new campus environment and the diverse courses about to begin, everyone was full of anticipation and high spirits. After settling their luggage, they walked around the campus, getting an early feel for the academic atmosphere of this world-renowned university and the unique scenery of this coastal city.

In the evening, the university organized a well-planned ice-breaking exchange activity for campers from various countries. In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, our students engaged in sincere and lively interactions with campers from America, Italy, France, Spain, Brazil, Japan, and other nations. Everyone shared their cultural backgrounds, fun facts about languages, and everyday experiences. From initial shyness to quickly warming up to one another, cross-cultural sparks flew amidst laughter and conversation.

We believe that in the coming two weeks, through daily interactions, the students will not only enhance their global awareness, leadership and English skills but also forge deep international friendships, gaining unforgettable experiences and emotional connections that will last a lifetime.
We will continue to follow the campers' learning and daily life, bringing you more exciting updates from the summer camp. Stay tuned!
