One of the most rewarding aspects of curriculum development is discovering learning opportunities beyond the classroom. On the morning of July 17, our team was invited to visit Hainan Ocean Paradise, where we explored how the park's exceptional facilities and conservation programs could become an integral part of JIA's transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning experiences.

As we toured the park, it became clear that this is far more than an attraction—it is a living learning environment. Students will have opportunities to observe marine animals and ecosystems firsthand while participating in authentic, hands-on conservation experiences. By connecting these experiences with classroom learning, we can help students deepen their understanding of science, sustainability, and biodiversity while also developing empathy, environmental stewardship, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

What excites me most is the potential to integrate these experiences across multiple subject areas through project-based learning. Whether students are investigating marine ecosystems, exploring conservation challenges, collecting scientific data, or participating in community service initiatives, they will be applying their knowledge in meaningful, real-world contexts. These experiences not only enrich academic learning but also help develop the global citizenship, compassion, and leadership qualities that are central to JIA's educational vision.

Our visit reinforced the importance of building partnerships with outstanding local organisations such as Hainan Ocean Paradise. By bringing these authentic learning opportunities into our curriculum, we are creating memorable educational experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage lifelong learning, and prepare students to make a positive contribution to both their local community and the wider world.
