During the inaugural week of Jingying International Academy (JIA), the school welcomed its first high school students and their families as they began an exciting new chapter together.
As part of the registration ceremony, students joining the Griggs High School Program attended a special welcome event with their parents. It was a meaningful occasion for the school community as these students became the founding high school students of JIA.

Welcoming Students and Families

Griggs China Academic Director Lisa Kerr welcomed the students and parents with a heartfelt speech, focusing on what it means to begin at a new school and to become part of a new community.

She encouraged students to approach their high school experience with curiosity, courage, and an open mind, reminding them that school is about much more than lessons, examinations, grades, and transcripts. While academic achievement is important, she emphasised that relationships, confidence, new experiences, and a sense of belonging are equally important parts of a student's journey.

Students were encouraged to discover their interests and strengths, try new things, and feel comfortable being themselves while also stepping outside their comfort zones. Lisa also spoke directly to parents, recognising the trust they place in the school and highlighting the importance of a strong partnership between students, families, and teachers.

Her central message was one of welcome and community: JIA should become a place where students feel supported, challenged, inspired, and, ultimately, that they truly belong.

Looking Ahead Together

Academic Principal June Lee built on this message, sharing the school's vision and reinforcing the importance of giving students opportunities to discover and develop their interests both inside and outside the classroom. She also guided students and parents through key policies and procedures to help them understand daily life at school and feel confident as they begin the new academic year.

Following the ceremony, students met their homeroom teacher, Dr. Sun, whose warmth and professionalism were immediately evident. With her guidance and support, students can look forward to being well supported throughout their high school journey.

Students were also introduced to their teacher mentors. Sitting together with their parents, students had the opportunity to chat with their mentors, get to know one another, and begin building the relationships that will support them throughout their time at JIA.

Settling In

After the afternoon’s ceremony, students settled into their dormitories before enjoying a delicious dinner in the school's canteen, overlooking the bay.
